Piano

String instruments (violin, viola, cello, double bass)

Age groups and program: 

The 1st. and 2nd. age groups are part of the AVICV youth program, a  subcategory of the main competition, called Antonio VIvaldi International Youth Competition.

I. Contestants 12 years old and under, born after the 1st of August, 2006.  One or more pieces in different styles. Total duration - 10 mins. 

Piano: free choice - one or more pieces

Strings: free choice - one or more pieces

II. Contestants 13 to 18 years of age, born after the 1st of August, 2000 but before the 31st of July, 2006. One or more pieces in different styles. Total duration - 20 mins. 

Piano: free choice - one or more pieces

Strings: free choice - one or more pieces

III. Contestants aged 19 years and older, born before the 31st of July, 2000. One or more pieces in different styles. Total duration - 30 mins. There is no age limit for the participants within this group, nevertheless, it is required that they are enrolled at a music university, academy, conservatory or at a music school

Piano: at least one piece from classical period

Strings: at least one piece from Vivaldi or one piece from classical period

Competition rules:

  • Only the Judges decide the price winners. The decision of the Jury is final.

  • It is allowed to perform single movements of a longer works (such as sonatas and concertos etc. However, piano concerto is not available).

  • Laureates of all age groups are obliged to perform at the laureate's concert without extra gratification on the 9th of August, 2019. The program of the concert will be arranged by the jury.

  • Contestants in each category are required to perform within a limited time. The jury is entitled to interrupt or end an audition at any time and to choose selected pieces from the prepared program. 

  • No sheet music is allowed on stage during the audition.

  • Contestants in the string instruments category will perform with piano     accompaniment. Accompanist will be provided by the organisers of the competition. Contestants are obliged to provide accompanists with sheet music. Note: Rehearsals are not provided by the organisers.

  • Performing order is decided by the committee at random. No changes will be allowed after announcement.
